How Can We Help?

To filter out a domain in Google Analytics

You can create a new filter in your Google Analytics view. Here are the steps:

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account and select the desired view.
  2. Click on the “Admin” tab in the bottom left corner.
  3. Under the “View” column, click on “Filters”.
  4. Click on the “+ Add Filter” button.
  5. Enter a name for the filter.
  6. Select the filter type as “Exclude”.
  7. Select “Traffic to the hostname” from the “Filter Field” dropdown menu.
  8. In the “Filter Pattern” field, enter the domain that you want to exclude (without the protocol, e.g. “example.com”).
  9. Click on “Save” to create the filter.

This filter will exclude all traffic to the specified domain from your Google Analytics reports. Note that the filter will only affect data going forward from the time it is created, and will not affect historical data. If you want to exclude historical data as well, you will need to create a custom segment that filters out the specified domain.

  11. Click on the “Customization” tab at the top of the page, then click on “Segments”.
  12. Click on the “+ New Segment” button to create a new segment.
  13. Give your segment a name and click on the “Conditions” tab.
  14. In the “Filter” dropdown, select “Sessions”.
  15. In the “Dimension” dropdown, select “Hostname”.
  16. Select the desired operator (e.g. “contains” or “matches regex”).
  17. Enter the domain name that you want to include or exclude.
  18. If you want to include multiple domains, click on the “OR” button and repeat steps 6-8 for each domain.
  19. If you want to exclude the selected domains, click on the “Exclude” button at the bottom of the page.
  20. Click on the “Save” button to save your custom segment.

Once you’ve created your custom segment, you can apply it to your reports by selecting it from the “All Users” dropdown at the top of the page. This will allow you to see data only for the sessions that match your specified domain(s).
